Once the technician has blocked all of the primary openings of the duct system (supply and return registers), isolated the furnace, airconditioning coil, and/or any other pieces of equipment not to be subjected to the sealant, a plastic tube is connected from the injector machine to the ductwork. Heated particles of vinyl are atomized at the nozzle and pushed by a fan controlled by the computer. THe duct pressurizes, forcing the suspended particles in the air stream to escape through the cracks and holes in the duct. As these particles accelerate through the hole, they stick to the edges and build upon each other until the hole is sealed. The computer monitors the pressure, calculates the remaining leakage, and displays the results.
